Off-Grid Living in Topsfield, Maine

I'll be upfront: Topsfield, Maine is a tiny town (pop. 179 per the 2020 Census), and in researching it I could not find an official town website, zoning ordinance, or code enforcement page. A lot of search results kept pointing me to Topsfield, Massachusetts or Topsham, Maine instead, neither of which tell you anything useful about this particular town. So a good chunk of this guide is going to be "not confirmed, ask the town directly," and I think that's more honest than pretending I found rules that aren't published anywhere I could verify.

Zoning. I found no zoning ordinance or map for Topsfield. Plenty of small organized Maine towns this size have no local zoning ordinance at all, which would mean land use isn't restricted by the town beyond state-level rules, but I can't confirm that's the case here versus an ordinance simply not being online. You'd need to call the Topsfield Town Office to find out whether zoning exists at all.

Dwellings, tiny homes, RVs. Same story, nothing confirmed. No minimum size rule, no RV/seasonal-dwelling policy located.

Building permits and code enforcement.
